Over 300 Deaths May Be Linked to Defective GM Ignition Switches

Defective GM Ignition Switches Recall: 1.3 Million Owners of General Motors Chevys, Pontiacs and Saturns May Receive Compensation!
On March 13, 2014, the Center for Auto Safety announced the results of a study examining specific GM vehicle crashes that resulted in 303 deaths.  The Center for Auto Safety said it referenced crash and fatality data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) Fatal Analysis Reporting System (FARS).  The study revealed that the 303 people were killed in accidents as a result of GM airbags failing to deploy from 2003 to 2012. Experts have been unable to determine whether ignition problems in these vehicles were definitively responsible for the deaths, but GM has acknowledged that 12 deaths were linked to faulty auto parts.
**TAKE NOTE** If you or a loved one were involved in an accident with a recalled GM vehicle that lost power prior to an accident where your air bags failed to deploy, The Sher Law Firm would like to speak with you. You may be entitled to some compensation.

FATAL ACCIDENTS PROMPT GM TO RECALL MILLIONS OF VEHICLES

GM has created a webpage dedicated to the recall at GM Ignition Switch Recall.  According to GM, ” There is a risk, under certain conditions, that your ignition switch may move out of the “run” position, resulting in a partial loss of electrical power and turning off the engine. This risk increases if your key ring is carrying added weight (such as more keys or the key fob) or your vehicle experiences rough road conditions or other jarring or impact related events. If the ignition switch is not in the run position, the air bags may not deploy if the vehicle is involved in a crash, increasing the risk of injury or fatality.”

Which vehicles are being recalled?

All 2005-2007 Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac G5, 2003-2007 Saturn Ion, 2006-2007 Chevrolet HHR, 2005-2006 Pontiac Pursuit (Canada), 2006-2007 Pontiac Solstice and 2007 Saturn Sky vehicles are involved in the recall. On March 28, 2014, the recall was expanded to include the following vehicles – 2008 – 2010 Pontiac Solstice and G5; 2008-2010 Saturn Sky; 2008-2010 Chevrolet Cobalt; 2008-2011 Chevrolet HHR.
